Ervadi

Ervadi Village in Kilakkarai Taluk of Ramanathapuram District is the location of the grave and shrine of Qutb Sultan Syed Ibrahim Shaheed Badusha, the then ruler of Madinah Al Munawwara.The main shrine in Ervadi is the holiest place in Tamil Nadu because it is mixed with the soil of Madinah. The graves of Emperor Sulthan Ibrahim Shaheed Badusha along with his kith and kin are found in the main Dargah campus. The Dargah premises also houses the holy graves of other important Shahudaas and in-laws of Badusha Sulthan Syed Ibrahim Shaheed. The main Dargah campus has a big mosque that can accommodate 10,000 pilgrims for every prayer-service.

navapashanam navagraha temple

Navapashanam temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Navagrahas, the nine planetary deities, located in Devipattinam, the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a Hindu pilgrimage centre located in the Bay of Bengal. As per Hindu legend, the nine mud images of the planetary deities, have been believed to have built by Rama, an avatar of Vishnu.

The temple is a famous pilgrimage centre in the region where pilgrims perform rites for their forefathers. It is also a part of popular tourist circuit in the region along with the Ramanathaswamy Temple at Rameswaram and Adi Jagannatha Perumal Temple at Thiruppullani. The temple was originally maintained and administered by the Ramanathapuram Samasthanam Devasthanam under the Hereditary Trustee of the Queen of Ramanathapuram until now and controlled by the Department of HR & CE, Government of Tamil Nadu.

Kamuthi Fort

This stone Fort was constructed 300 years ago by Sethupathi King Udaiyathevar alias Vijaya Ragunatha Sethupathy. It is believed that this was built with the assistance of a French Engineer. After the downfall of Panchalankurichi, this fort fell into the hands of the East India Company. It was also under the control of Maruthu Brothers for sometime. It is reported that Virapandya Kattabomman stayed at this Fort on his way to Ramanathapuram.

Uthirakosamangai

Uthira Kosa Mangai is a tiny hamlet. It is considered to be one of the very ancient Hindu temples which Tamil literature describes as “Mann Mundhiyo Mangai Mundhiyo?” meaning “Did the mud (mann) come first or is the Mangai (The Female Deity of the Temple)?”. This is the place where Siva transferred the secrets of Vedas to Parvati. Uthiram means (upadesam) kosam (secrets) Parvati (Mangai) hence this place is known as Uthira Kosa Mangai.

Ariyaman Beach

As Ariyaman Beach is located around 27 km from Rameshwaram, tourist can travel to the beach in bus from Rameshwaram. There are many buses from the main stand to here. One can also hire a taxi or auto rickshaw from the town to this beach.If you are travelling by government buses then you need to get down at Mandapam and from there take a taxi or auto rickshaw to the beach.
